A clinical trial for hidradenitis suppurativa (H.S.)

A potential new treatment for HS

Hidradenitis Suppurativa Man Vela Study

Study Details

Study Id: CA43-M1095-HS-301

Age: 18+

Delivery Method: Oral

Study Length: 13 Months

Compensation: May be available for qualified participants.

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), or acne inversa, is a skin  condition that causes  painful bumps, boils and/or abscesses to form under the skin. HS usually appears in areas where skin rubs together, such as the armpits, groin, inner thighs, buttocks and breasts. As HS gets more severe, these bumps, boils and/or abscesses grow deeper, and can rupture or leak and cause scarring. Currently, there is no cure for HS, but researchers are studying new options that may be able to help.

The study is for an investigational medication for HS, taken once daily by mouth.

If you join, you will receive all study-related care and study medication at no cost, and may also be reimbursed for your time and travel to attend periodic visits to your local study center over approximately 13 months.

Inclusion Criteria

  • Have had HS for more than 6 months
  • Have 5 or more abscesses or inflammatory nodules
  • Have HS lesions present in 2 or more distinct anatomical areas.
  • Display inadequate response to appropriate systemic antibiotics for treatment of HS

Why participate?

If you have had hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) for at least 6 months, and have not had success with other treatments, you may qualify for the VELA Study.

The study is for an injectable investigational
medication that is designed to help alleviate symptoms of HS. If you qualify and choose to join the study, you will receive:

  • Regular assessment of your HS condition by a medical specialist
  • Study related care and study medicine at no cost
  • Compensation for time and travel to attend study visits
  • The opportunity to help advance hidradenitis suppurativa
research to potentially benefit others suffering from HS
